MapZit is an information source based on online local area maps. It has over 500 online local area maps of the UK with information about various places of interest. The information consists of spots located on these online local area maps which display more information when the user points at these spots.
Further options for information are activated by mouse clicks. Typically these click through to other useful websites, which can give more detailed maps, satellite images or websites giving information about a particular location.
The background online local area maps are simple to the maximum amount of foreground information - locations and labels - can be displayed. The information on MapZit is broken down into different cattegories (e.g. Golf Courses, Caravan Sites etc). Each category has its own web page for every online local area map.
